Course descriptionThis course explores key concepts and issues related to world food, population, and poverty and their interrelationships. The concepts discussed in this course will enable students to critically assess current trends in development and poverty, especially in view of emerging shocks such as climate change, armed conflicts and political instability. The course explores alternative solutions to food, population, and poverty problems, including the role of new technology, data revolution, globalization, government policies and trade.

AFRE 465: Corporate Environmental Management

Course descriptionIn this course, environmental issues are analyzed from a business management perspective. This course focuses on analytical techniques, management processes and business strategies that enable sustained value creation and reconciliation of environmental and economic performance goals for businesses. Through a combination of real-life cases, readings, lectures, videos, and simulations, class sessions will seek to engage students in discussions aimed at developing holistic models of corporate environmental management, covering regulatory structure, compliance, environmental risk management, risk communication, green marketing, product stewardship, business redefinition, shared value creation, and environmental management systems.
